I’m a huge fan of Castelli’s Empirica range packaging. Classy labels with unique bottles that look the business. This wine was hand plunged, small batch fermentated, cold soaked and minimal new oak was used. Bright berries, juicy. Fine tannins. Red

2009 Bodegas Felix Callejo, Majuelos de Callejo. Ribera del Duero, Spain

100% Tempranillo Seems to have a bit of bottle variation. Last one I had seemed not to be very expressive. Maybe a low level of cork taint?? This bottle, on the other hand is full of life and vigour. Ripe,

2004 Felix Callejo “Gran Callejo” Gran Reserva. Ribera Del Duero, Spain. 14.5%.

100% Tempranillo. WOW! Cracker of a wine. Ripe fruit, fresh herbs. Rosemary, oregano. Firm grippy tannins. Great texture. Hard to describe this wine, it’s just really good. Made the 2003 Yalumba Octavious that we had as well look really simple.
