The lovely labelling on this bottle drew me in. Beautiful package, along with the words “small parcels” & “handcrafted” on the label added to my intrigue. Had to buy and try. Youthful bright and deep purple on the eye. On

2003 Lindemans Limestone Ridge Vineyard. Coonawarra, 13.5%

Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon Blend. Have not seen these nor tried them for quite a few years. Cut my “red wine drinking teeth” on this and the other Coonawarra trio’s from Lindemans when I was just getting into red wine.

A distinguished gentleman. Bouquet of ripe plums, stewed in star anise. Overtones of curry leaf, ginger, black pepper and peppermint. Smoked cherries and chinotto on the finish. Superfine tannins. Elegant, complex but not obvious. Gorgeous mouthfeel. Stopped all of us
