2009 Kusuda Syrah. Martinborough, NZ. 14.5%

A dinner guest brought this over the other night. Was very happy to see this pulled out. The wines of Kusuda are ultra rare and even harder to find in Australia. Spicy, hints of cloves with a background of bacon.

2008 Man O’ War Dreadnought Syrah. Waiheke Island, N.Z. 14%

Sneezy pepper, green capsicum. Bovril and very meaty. Who sprayed the fly spray into the bottle? Bitter, chewy tannins. Very short on the palate. Had a mouthful of this with my dinner companion, stood up, grabbed our glasses and poured
