1994 Leasingham Classic Clare Shiraz. Clare Valley. 13.5%

This was a Jimmy Watson Trophy winner. Spent 24 months maturing in American oak. A throw back to the fashion of it’s day? Smokey, sweet vanilla nose. More oak flavours than fruit. Thin on the palate and fades very fast.

2012 Kilikanoon Mort’s Block Watervale Riesling. Clare Valley. 12.5%

Lot’s has been said about the 2012 Riesling vintage. Love the energy and purity of this wine. I found similar descriptors in this as the Castle Rock Riesling. Lemons and Limes. Minerals and cleansing acid. Cold tea and green apples.
