/ Wine

2011 Weinlaubenhof Kracher trocken Pinot Gris. Burgenland, Austria.

  Light straw in colour. Lemons, zingy acid and some woody herbs. Hints of Bay Leaf & Parmesan cheese rind. Nutty cashew like notes. Slight hint of residual sugar gives this a good honeysuckle textural element. Long lingering after taste.

Found a rustic traditional Austrian place for dinner, located fairly centrally in Vienna. Ordered the Wild boar. Very tasty. Enjoying the sweet red cabbage that comes with most meals. Had 2 interesting wines. 2009 Schloss Halbturn Koenigsegg Zweigelt Reserve. Burgenland.

Found this in the Christmas markets set up outside the Schonbrunn Palace in Vienna. St. Laurent is a local red grape variety. Very Pinot like. Turkish delight aromas, slight spice, cinnamon. Reminds me of the heady aromas that permeate the
