“For the people, by the people”
VUWP stands for Vinteloper Urban Winery Project and was part of the Adelaide Fringe Festival. It’s an interesting project where Vinteloper brought their winery to the city of Adelaide and created this wine with the help of those visiting the urban winery. Patrons could jump in a vat of the wine and help stomp on the fermenting grapes. This wine is a blend of Aglianico, Shiraz, Barbera, Sangiovese, Graciano & Pinot Noir.
On first opening there is a slight amount of funk on the nose.
With air, sweet plums emerge with strawberry, raspberry and pomegranate notes. There’s a background of dark chocolates, amaro bitters, chewy cherries along with some salami and a touch of coffee and cloves. Moderate length and has a bright cheerful mood to it.
I feel that this is more of a food wine that demands a plate of charcuterie to accompany it.
