2007 Peel Estate Old Vine Zinfandel. 17.5%

This was brought along to a family dinner in celebrating my daughter’s birthday.

Peel Estate Old Vine Zinfandel

Yes, you read correctly, this wine carries 17.5% alcohol.

I found this way too ripe for my liking with no balancing acids or tannin to help. All I could get from the wine were flavours of stewed dark fruits…. simmered down to its sweet essence. I noticed everyone else was enjoying this wine and commenting on its power, so I finished off the remains of the glass and quietly found something else to sip on.

Goes to show that there are wines out there that suit everyone’s different preferences and tastes.
