2011 David Franz Long Gully Road Semillon Ancient Vine. Barossa. 12.3%

Regular readers will have read that David Franz is a winery I love and that he’s in fact Peter and Margaret Lehmann’s son…. not that he trades of the back of his surname. Apparently Semillon is mum’s favourite drop and given there is a one named in mum’s honour over at PL, you know every effort will be made to make this right and right it is.

David Franz Semillon 1     David Franz Semillon 2

Very Pale Lemon to look at and not showing any signs of its age.

Nose of lemon sours, brie notes, slaty minerals

Juicy lemons, delicate grapefruit, kaffir lime leaf and a hint of rosemary. Lingers forever on the palate.. So juicy and lipsmackingly good with its zippy acidity..

Another glass please.

Purchased directly from the winery for approximately $26.

Tasted 1st May 2013
