2012 Brash Higgins “SM/R” Semillon Riesling. McLaren Vale. 12.3%

This is a field blend that was handpicked on the same day, basket pressed and co-fermented. Only 2 barrels or 39 cases were made. Brash Higgins is a newish label out of McLaren Vale. Owner, Brad Hickey is originally a sommelier from America, but now calls McLaren Vale home.

Brash Higgins "SM/R" Semillon Riesling

“Emerald exuberance of Riesling cut with the lemony flesh of Semillon”

Written by Brad Hickey and I find it hard to add much to that description. Sometimes fewer words say so much more.

This is a stunning seamless wine. Fleshy lemons, honeysuckle with a hint of residual sugar. Beautiful rounded and full palate. Dusty lemon sherbet overtones and textures. Finishes slightly sweet with a good acid to clean the palate.

Love this wine. Opened this when I had guests over and they all loved this as well. Disappeared in no time. Shortly after I bought this wine, I received news that all was sold out at the winery.

Tasted 31st October 2013

Sourced directly from the winery for $45
