2009 Foster e Rocco Riserva Sangiovese. Heathcote, Victoria. 13.5%

Had a quick taste of this a few months back when Steves had one of their “meet the winemaker” tastings. Loved it then and had to purchase a bottle to try it in the comfort of my home.

Foster e Rocco Riserva Sangiovese

Built for the long term. Could easily pass for a Chianti Classico Riserva.

Dusty tannins. Lovely sour cherry, fresh oregano, chinotto.

Touch of rose petal / Turkish delight characters.

Bit of tobacco leaf.

Juicy fruit emerges with time in the glass.

Finish is bitter sweet and dry.

Crying out for some wood roasted capretto.

Mouth watering acids clean the palate and makes you reach for another glass. Bravo.

Excellent juice.

Tasted 19th September 2013

$60 from Steves Fine Wine and Food
