2008 Marion Amarone della Valpolicella. Vento, Italy. 15.5%

Decanted for 1 hour in my beautiful new Riedel decanter. Love the heart shape in the middle.

Marion Amarone della Valpolicella

I have heard some complain that Amarone wines are an overly ripe, alcoholic drink.

This is far from that.

Pretty, nose filling aromas of Rose petals.

Mouth filling palate of sweet, dried cherries balanced out with fresh cherries.

Dark & milky chocolates, Italian herbs.

Dusty tannins. Finishes bitter sweet with drying tannins.

This wine has ample structure to hold it all together.

A rich, sumptuous, seductive wine and I highly recommended it.

Sourced from Vaucluse Cellars. $120 as a pre-arrival offer. Now $165

Tasted 25th July 2013

Amarone is probably my all time favorite wine, and yes, I can admit I’m the one who is constantly complaining about overly alcoholic, unbalanced wines – for me, it is hard to find good Amarone nowadays. Glad you enjoyed yours! I would love to compare notes, but it is pretty much not available in US…
