2009 Bodegas Felix Callejo, Majuelos de Callejo. Ribera del Duero, Spain

Bodegas Felix Callejo, Majuelos de Callejo 1

100% Tempranillo

Seems to have a bit of bottle variation. Last one I had seemed not to be very expressive. Maybe a low level of cork taint??

This bottle, on the other hand is full of life and vigour.

Ripe, tart cranberry juice. Funky, in a good way with hints of chorizo and bacon fat. Thyme, oregano and strawberry leaf complete the picture.

Thick, lush and very savoury. Good food wine. Really enjoyed this with Mum’s Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding.

Approximately $55 from International Fine Wines website

Tasted 13th June 2013
