La Corsa Mandrione Sangiovese

Tastes like textbook Australian Sangiovese to me.

Yes, I know this is an Italian wine…… but hear me out.

It has the sour cherries and coffee overtones of good Sangiovese, along with the Chinotto overtones with piercing acids.

Italian Sangiovese, or Chianti has more savoury aspects and woody herbs, like rosemary.

Is this an enjoyable wine? Yes, and I’d be happy drinking this with pizza.

Good Italian Sangiovese? Not really.

Best described as an Italian wine with an Australian lisp.

Tasted 4th June 2013
