“The grapes are hand harvested according to the biodynamic calendar, whole bunch pressed and naturally fermented in concrete eggs where the wine remains for a period of 2 years with a naturally occurring flor. No sulphur is used, unfiltered and unfined.”
Fermented in concrete eggs?? Have been hearing a bit about wine being made in concrete eggs. Don’t think I’ve had one until now.
Wow! Simply put, this is a stunning white wine.
Deeply golden to look at with intense flavours and refreshing acidity.
Texture ++ on the palate.
Think baked apple skins in cloves and cinnamon, macerated with pear and apple juice and ginger peel. Huge on flavour.
A flavour grenade that was thrown into my mouth.
Excellent wine and very highly recommended. Worth seeking out, but bear in mind this is a very different style of white wine due to its unique fermentation and winemaking.
Love the artwork on the bottle as well. Never heard of Si Vintners until recently, needless to say I’m now a huge fan. Bought a few of their other wines that I now can’t wait to try.
Tasted 7th May 2013.
Approx $55 from Steve’s Food and Fine Wine.
