This was a Jimmy Watson Trophy winner. Spent 24 months maturing in American oak. A throw back to the fashion of it’s day?
Smokey, sweet vanilla nose. More oak flavours than fruit.
Thin on the palate and fades very fast. All chassis and no body.
Time has not been kind to this wine.
I remember drinking this about ten years ago. Back then it had deep fruits and a touch of mint to accompany the sweet oak flavours.
Some wines just need to be drunk young.
