2006 Tyrrell’s Wines Vat 1 Hunter Semillon. Hunter Valley. 10.5%

Tyrrell’s Wines Vat 1

Still very pale in colour at 7 years old.

Lemongrass scents, baby powder & wet pebbles. Juicy pomelo segments & lemon curd essence on the palate

Refreshing, with a very pleasant acid zing.

Seamless transition from front to back of palate.

Quietly confident wine that just sits on your palate, lasts forever and knows it is good.

A linear and well framed wine that could well be Australia’s answer to Chablis

In a word, sensational. A benchmark of Australian white wine.

Purchased from Vintage Cellars. From memory, around the $50 mark.

Minor quibble. Why oh why does the winery insist on putting all those gold medals on the bottle? Makes it look like it’s wearing a bullet proof vest.
