2009 I Custodi Ante Etna Bianco. Sicily. Italy. 12.5%

I Custodi Ante Etna Bianco

A blend of 70% Carricante, Minnella & Grecanico. White wine.

Interesting how this wine changed after being open a day. When first opened, it was soapy on the palate and not very inviting. Decided to leave it for a day to see what would happen.

On day 2, this was a different wine altogether.

Sherry like aromas. Pithy grapefruit pulp with aniseed and fennel notes. Green Sicilian olives and toasted bitter almonds. Finishes with a very tangy lemon bite.

A very full flavoured white wine that cries out for a bit of food.

Highly recommended, but try with an open mind.

Increasingly noticing that top Italian white wines need time in a decanter to open up and show their true self.

Approx $65 from La Vigna

Tasted 11th March 2013

Just a very simple question…where on earth can you buy this ETNA bianco DOC 2009 in Australia ??
Even the serious Italian Enoteca’s in Melbourne have not got it. I have heard its superb.
