2009 Mas Jullien Terrasses du Larzac. Appellation Côteaux du Languedoc, France. 14%

Mas Jullien Terrasses du Larzac

Took quite a while to open up.

Up front, it has a slightly bitter herb and hints of rawness. Harsh tannin extraction? Can almost taste the grape seeds.

Detracts from the pleasing aspects of espresso, dark brambly fruits and earthy chocolately mushrooms.

At this price point, way over the odds. Acceptable wine if it were a $15 proposition.

$80 from La Vigna

Tasted 3rd March 2013
