2010 Vigneti Zabu Chiantari Nero d’Avola. Sicily, Italy. 14%

Vigneti Zabu Chiantari Nero d’Avola

More structured, balanced and poised than the Feudo Arancio I tried at the Wine Century meeting recently.

Juicy with good acid that makes me reach for a 2nd glass… and a 3rd……

Mid to full bodied wine.

Very clean with no ash / sulphur notes you sometimes get from Sicilian wines.

Rose petals, pomegranate pulp, sour cherries and fresh rosemary.

Sounds like the ingredients for Middle Eastern meat dish and it did match perfectly with Mrs PWE’s roast lamb dinner.

Really opened up and strutted its stuff after an hour or so in the decanter.

Good wine with sensational value.

Approx $20 from Boccaccio Cellars.

Tasted 26th February 2013
