2010 Myattsfield Vineyards Mourvèdre. Carmel Valley, Perth Hills. 14%

Myattsfield Mourvèdre 1

The thing I love about Mourvèdre is it’s ripe, red fruits backed with graphite and a lick of iron stone.

This wine has that, so a big tick so far.

Flavours of Chinese mushrooms stewed in five spice sauce. No that’s not a food suggestion! I actually got a taste of that.

All accompanied with a beautiful floral note. Nice savoury edge as well. Good persistent mouth feel.

Highly recommended and excellent QPR (Quality Price Ratio)

$25 from Herdsman Liquor Barons.

Tasted 7th February 2013
