2012 Shobbrook Wines Riesling. Eden Valley. 12%

Shobbrook Wines Riesling 1

“Wild Fermented, unfiltered and unfined.”  This wine has certainly been left to do its own thing.

Slightly cloudy in appearance.

Mashed apple skins. Full, creamy and leesy on the palate.

Juicy flavours of lychee, fried ginger, mangosteen and lemon oil.

Finishes a touch broad, with the ginger really lingering.

A good, solid dry Riesling that is slightly different from all the others.

Interesting juice and highly recommended.

Slightly lacks the structure to go with food. More a wine to drink by itself. Perfect for a sundowner.

Approx $40 from Steve’s Fine Wine and Food.

Tasted 3rd February 2013
