A couple of highlights from a recent dinner party.
1993 Penfolds Bin 707 Cabernet Sauvignon.
Yay! Beautifully aged and still showing some youth.
Chocolates, cassis, savoury, bacon edge.
Balanced, ripe and fleshed out.
An excellent wine that is humming along nicely.
I liked it so much, I stopped writing, poured a generous glass, sat back and enjoyed.
2004 Irvine Grand Merlot
Rich, ripe wine. Mouth filling.
Good energy. Very good, but not great.
Source: Both brought along by dinner guests. Lucky to try these benchmark wines.
