2009 La Multa Old Vine Garnacha. Calataynd, Spain. 14.5%

Old Vine Grenache.

Grenache from Australia can often be overly sweet with minimal structure, this on the other hand is a very different beast.

This is a very pleasing wine.

Immediately open for business.

Expressive, ripe nose.

Liquorice, chinotto, earthy nutmeg, this is a savoury wine with a dark chocolate finish.

Pomegranate like tannins.

Good grip in the mouth.

What to have with this? T-bone steaks marinated with smoked paprika. Yes please!

I have not come across an Australian Grenache this good at this price.

A good solid wine that is well worth the price of admission.

Approx $18 at Steves Fine Wine and Food

Tasted 3rd December 2012
