Dinner Party Wines. 9th Sept 2012

Quick wine report from a dinner party I attended on 9th September 2012

1994 Leasingham Classic Clare Cabernet Sauvignon. Clare Valley. South Australia. 13%

For its age, still has lots of sweet fruit. Minty Clare valley goodness. Fully resolved and ready to drink. Perfect harmony. Potentially excellent, but excessive shaking of the bottle made this a touch cloudy. An honor to taste this.

2010 Joven D Silos Tempranillo. Ribera del Duero, Spain.

Huge sulphuric kick made this hard to drink

2004 Bodegas Roda Reserva. Rioja, Spain

For its reputation, somewhat disappointing.

2005 Mitolo “Savitar” McLaren Vale Shiraz.

Big powerful beasty that was a pleasure to drink

2004 Kalleske Johann Georg old vine Shiraz. Barossa Valley. 15.5%.

Big Barossa done well. Yes, the alcohol level is high, but did not stick out on the palate.

Ripe sweet fruit. Rich, giving and plush fruits. Brambley, dried oregano, ripe cherries.

Fantastic wine, wish I had more in the cellar. Yum and wine on the night for me.

From a retailer no longer in business. Approx $100

2008 Ode to Lorraine.

Did not try. Unfortunately, fatherly duties called and the kids had to be taken home before the group moved onto this
