2010 Mac Forbes Arneis. Yarra Valley. VIC. 12.5%

Arneis is a white grape variety that calls Northern Italy home. It’s a grape that I love and have had quite a few Italian versions. First Australian version was from First Drop winery in the Barossa and it was a cracker…. Think a white wine version of a good gin & tonic. Complex, zesty, tasty, refreshing. Getting thirsty thinking about it.

Given the reputation of the winemaker, this wine comes up short. According to much of the press on Mac Forbes, just about everything this guy makes is great. All the positive vibes on Mac has made me seek out and try most of his wines. And try as I have, I have yet to find one I love. Just don’t get his style of wine.

Approx $25 from The Wine Store in East Fremantle.

Tasted 18th October 2012
