Monte Velho

2009 Monte Velho. Vinho Regional Alentejano. Portugal. 13.5%

White wine. Made from a blend of Roupeiro, Antao Vazquez & Perrum. Never heard of those grapes before.

Crisp, clean, dusty lemon sherbet. Crushed almonds mixed with oyster shells, salty brine.

Was a perfect match with oysters and a spicy lime mayonnaise.

Broad wine with just enough acid to keep this in balance. Bravo! Like this a lot.

Approx $25 at Swanbourne Cellars

Tasted on 15th September 2012
