Antinori Tasting and Dinner at Steve’s in Nedlands. Held 29th August 2012
Steve’s hosted a dinner tonight down in their cellars that featured the wines of Marchesi Antinori.
Jacopo Pandolfini, brand representative from Antinori was there to provide good insights to the wines and to the history of Antinori and their place in being part of the “Super Tuscan” movement in Italy.
Wines tasted were:
2010 Antinori Vermentino Bolgheri – Okay
2009 Antinori Peppoli Chianti Classico – Pleasant entry level wine
2007 Tenute Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva – Excellent wine and fantastic for the price.
2000 Antinori Guado al Tasso Bolgheri DOC Superiore – Perfectly mature wine. Fully resolved. Went very well with the braised lamb shanks
2008 Antinori Tignanello – Very refined wine. A wine for quiet reflection. Very Good
2006 Antinori Solaia – Antinori big gun. Like a top Bordeaux with a kiss of Italian herbs. Massive concentration, huge structure. Time needs to tame this a bit. Excellent…. but at $485rrp, not sure if I would buy any.
Congratulations to the guys at Steve’s that put together this wonderful tasting and dinner.
